Police Union of Papua New Guinea Rejoins PNG Trade Union Congress

By Michelle Steven – EMTV News, Port Moresby

The Police Union of Papua New Guinea paid K10,000 in affiliation fees to the Papua New Guinea Trade Union Congress (PNGTUC) today in Port Moresby.

The union said it was a way to say ‘sorry’, and come back to the PNGTUC after pulling away.

Currently the PNGTUC has over 20 unions.

During the presentation, PNG Trade Union Congress President, John Paska, said the initiative taken by the police union is mending the broken relationship.

Police Union President, Lowa Tambua, said the police union pulled out of the PNGTUC for their own reasons, but due to circumstances beyond their control, they had to come back.

The event has reunited all the unions to speak and work as one.
