Cricket PNG signs MOU with UPNG

The University of Papua New Guinea has recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Cricket PNG to jointly offer facilities to enable cricketers in the country to enjoy playing fields and pitches for the regular staging of cricket fixtures.

The laying of the first of  48 cricket pitches around  Papua  New Guinea has already been completed at the University, and the official unveiling of the  ICC  approved pitch will take place on Thursday 13th September at the University’s Waigani Campus.

This  Cricket  Facilities Enhancement Project has been funded by the  Cricket  World  Cup Community Facilities Fund and the Australian High Commission in Port Moresby.

The Facility Fund is a joint legacy project that has been undertaken by Cricket Australia, New Zealand Cricket, and the International Cricket Council, following the World Cup in 2015.

It has been designed to address the need for more facilities and to significantly boost participation rates in the game of cricket, throughout Papua New Guinea, at both the senior and junior levels.
