Over 140 teachers in NCD will have their pay deducted because of absenteeism.

The Teaching Service Commission came up with these findings through its Monthly Returns exercise rolled-out last year to assess the attendance of teachers.

Principal Advisor for Appointment Section, Mr. Maini Ugaia said the Commission has forwarded the names of 53 elementary teachers, 35 primary teachers and 21 secondary school teachers to the payroll division for pay deductions.

Mr. Ugaia said failure to submit Teachers’ Monthly returns by the head teacher will see deductions of their responsibility allowances as well as performance-based salary allowances.

He is urging parents, churches, and communities to report teachers found to have absconded from classes to TSC on 301 3581.
