It is unlikely to find a school in a hospital facility.
But in Simbu Province, the Sir Joseph Nombrey Hospital is providing learning opportunities for patients, children with special needs and children of staff.
So far the school has produced students to technical college institutions in Simbu. The head of the school says learning has progressed with students scoring good academic grades.
But this is no ordinary school, the facility was established to serve patients who are admitted for longer durations. Most teachers are trained under the Special Education and Skills model, who then prepare specific lessons for particular students according to their imparities.
The Hospital School is also receiving TFF Funding and is receiving the support from Government, churches and other stakeholders to keep its operation running.
At the Provincial level, the Simbu Education Division is challenged to implement the new changes in the curriculum model.
But the head of the division is confident, Simbu schools will implement the new policy.
