Governor Powes Parkop: ‘Choose the Change You Want Port Moresby to Become’

National Capital District Governor, Powes Parkop, has challenged Port Moresby residents to choose positive changes that they would want the city to become.

 

Speaking during the Walk and Yoga for Life event, Governor Parkop commended the participants for a huge turnout and emphasised that participating in such drive for change event was for them to achieve positive health outcomes and not to impress other people including him.

 

“When everybody realises that it is for their own health, wellness and fitness, it will successfully achieve goals with passion for a greater good,” says Governor Parkop.

 

Mr Parkop added that the residents braved their slumber to wake up as early as 5’oclock in the morning and that itself, was a testimony that they have made real progress for change.

 

“For myself, I have achieved more. I want to leave a better legacy. I choose to be the change I want the city to be.

This is the equation I want you to understand. This is the journey I have been leading. We will achieve greater and better future if you join me in this pathway. You have the potential. I am only helping you to see yourself as an agent of change,” stated Governor Parkop.

The NCD Governor also commended the Yumi Clean-up volunteers for cleaning major parts of the city so that everyone adopts to live high quality of life in a peaceful, clean, safe, liveable, active, and smart city.

 

Also present at the event was Housing and Urbanisation Minister, John Kaupa, with world boxing champions, Thomas Kagili and Lee Henry Garap.
