Pangu Deputy Leader William Samb Appointed Minister

By Adelaide Sirox Kari – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Member for Goilala and Deputy Leader of Pangu Party, William Samb, has been officially appointed as Minister assisting the Prime Minister in Affairs of Bougainville and Sports.

The newly appointed Minister, William Samb, was ushered in with other members of the Pangu Party and their party leader, Sam Basil.

Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, and other Ministers of State were also in attendance.

The Governor General, Grand Chief Sir Bob Dadae, accepted the Prime Minister’s advice on the appointment of  Mr Samb.

The member for Goilala is the second Pangu Pati member to hold a portfolio since its move to government.

The Prime Minister congratulated Pangu on receiving another ministry and another voice in cabinet decisions.

Mr O’Neill also advised of a possible cabinet reshuffle in the coming months. He said while it is long overdue, it is timely with the absence of a Minister for Bougainville affairs.

Minister Samb said he looks forward to working with the Prime Minister.

This all comes at a time when Pangu is in the spot light for unresolved in-house quarrels, with executives up against the parliamentary arm.

Party leader, Sam Basil, assured that the Party is intact and the ministry appointment showed the government’s confidence in Pangu.
