Transparency International PNG Members’ Meet

By Lilian Sopera Keneqa – EMTV News, Port Moresby

Transparency International is a worldwide network of national chapters who believe that corruption can be stopped.

Yesterday, the Transparency International Papua New Guinea (TIPNG) held their members meet and greet at Holiday Inn. Visiting the PNG National Chapter for the first time was Pacific Coordinator, Alejandro Salas, based at the Secretariat in Berlin, Germany.

Salas addressed the members gathered on the importance of their support and explained a bit about the global program. Those gathered were privileged to hear more about Transparency International’s global movement. Salas was impressed with the work the PNG National Chapter was doing. With more experience gained from working in Berlin, Salas explained the work of Transparency International on a global scale, encouraging members that their support was the pinnacle of the organisations’ success.

This year, TIPNG will be pushing for three main agendas while running its normal programs. TIPNG has over 200 registered members and envisions a country free from corruption.
