With the announcement of Sam Basil as the new minister for Information communication and Technology the formal hand over take over took place yesterday.
Present at the handover takeover was NICTA CEO Charles Punahu, Telikom acting CEO Xavier Victor and NBC Board of Directors.
Outgoing minister and member for Talasea Francis Manake thanked the ministry for the few months of collaborations they had together and congratulated Minister Basil on his appointment.
Outgoing minister Manake outlined challenges the ministry was facing and hoped minister Basil would look closely into them.
Minister Basil added that he look forward in bringing energy and communication together as they were vital.
Minister Basil also added that he will be working on all aspects of improving the ministry and ensures it comes in line with the Alotau Accord 2.
A detailed ministerial statement on his plans for the ministry is expected to be released soon once the new minister for ICT and energy sits with all communication services and State owned enterprices and agencies.
