Minister for Sports, Justin Tkatchenko has slammed provinces for stating they are unprepared for the PNG games.
The minister was responding to statements made last week by Team NCD manager,Kila Dick who had stated that his athletes and officials were not yet prepared to travel to the PNG Games.
The stance by the minister throughout his tenure has always been one of preparedness, and the latest message was for provinces to begin thinking in the long term.
When asked whether the reason given by Team NCD for being unprepared was suitable, the minister responded by saying, “That’s no excuse at all it means they are incompetent, that means that they haven’t got their act together, they’ve had all this time, there’s no excuse,
And with the deferral, they should be ever-ready, they should be ready to go and beat everybody, I mean (and) especially for a capital city where we have all these facilities.”
