30 boats registered for Ela Motors Yellow fin Tournament

Thirty boats have registered to take part in the Ela Motors Yellowfin Tournament being staged at the Lae Yacht Club over the Queen’s birthday long weekend.

With the major prize of a Haines Hunter boat up for grabs, the event has attracted a lot of interest. A brand new haines hunter boat ready to go fishing is the major prize that one angler could win over the two day event.

The thirty boats registered to take part, makes the Ela Motors event the second biggest in the country after the National Game Fishing Titles. The tournament dropped their lines in at 6am on Sunday morning and all fish must be weighed in by 5pm on Monday afternoon.

The event has specific rules and regulations in place for the anglers with the main criteiria to win the boat being an angler must catch a yellowfin tuna three times the weight of his line class. Apart from the major prize, anglers also have a chance to take out other categories such as highest point scoring fish weighed, fish tagged and overall highest point scoring boat.

The promotion is put on by Ela Motors who are the new agents for the Haines Hunter range of boats.
