2,693 Active COVID-19 Cases in Isolation

845 cases of COVID-19 have recovered leaving 2,693 active cases still in isolation from the accumulative total of 3,574 cases reported in PNG since March of 2020.

This according to the latest statistics released this afternoon.

As of yesterday, 215 new cases were reported with Gulf province recording their first COVID-19 case.

From the cases reported, 81 cases were from Western Province, 53 cases from NCD, East New Britain recorded 19 news cases, West Sepik reported 17 cases, Central Province with 11 cases and Eastern Highlands Province and Morobe recorded 8 news cases each.

The total testing samples collected so far is 55,411 with 1,787 pending testing results.

The Pandemic Controller David Manning, this afternoon announced that 8,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines will be arriving in PNG tomorrow afternoon.

He said the vaccination program is expected to start this weekend or by next week which the first lot of health workers will be vaccinated.
