Voice for Change Trains Thirty Women Leaders in Jiwaka Province

Young Women’s Empowerment and Mentoring Program (YWP) facilitated a training on mentorship for 30 women leaders in Jiwaka province last week, Mi Ripota Lilly BeSoer from Voice for Change reported.

The training was conducted by Ms Barbara Tanne, a freelance consultant from Buka with funding support from the International Women Development Agency (IWDA).

“The training aims to empower young women from Jiwaka Province to become leaders to advocate, educate, raise awareness, influence change and lead by example to promote greater gender equality and women’s rights.” Ms BeSoer, Director for VoC said.

Lilly said, after the mentor’s training, they were paired with a young woman each who are part of the pilot Young Women Empowerment and Mentoring Program.

“Each mentor was paired with a mentee (young woman) to help her develop her life goals and work with her towards achieving her goals and dreams.”
