New Ireland Province has launched its Tourism Board beginning with the swearing in of its Tourism Board.
Governor Julius Chan says, this move will unlock the vast potential in non-renewable resources of the tourism industry in the province.
The swearing in ceremony was officiated by the Senior Magistrate in Kavieng and witnessed by the former Tourism Chairman, Sir Noel Levi, Assembly Chief of Chiefs, Demas Kavavu, CEOs, and senior executives.
The new-look Board consists of industry members with experience in pioneering tourism infrastructure and products in New Ireland headed by its Executive Chairman and CEO, Memafu Kapera who hails from the media industry and former NBC Managing Director.
Sir Julius urged the new Board to come up with a plan that will not intimidate women and culture, but lure tourists to explore New Ireland Province’s natural beauty, and its friendly people.
