Women in League receives support

Womenin League can now look forward to playingthe curtain raiser at this year’s Prime Minister’s 13 with recognition fromthe Sport Ministry.

Womenin League is a non-profitable organization which aims to help address women’s issues through sports.

Up to 12 teams have puttheir hands up to part take inthe Womenin League initiative. Today markedthe first time that women in League received one hundred thousand Kina from Sport Minister Justin Tkatchenko.

Rugby League is indeed a male dominated sport but with encouragement fromthe Minister’s Office more can be done starting withthe Pom women’s rugby competition.

Womenin League will playthe curtain raiser match tothe Prime Minister’s 13 match between Australia andthe Kumuls in Kokopo in September.

The Port Moresby Womenrsquo;s Rugby League competition is a fine example of how bigthe women in league concept have grown.

With more teams registeringtheir participation things can only get better for women in League.
