Wobiro Presented Cheque for UPNG Western Students

Western Province students attending the University of Papua New Guinea do not have to worry about tuition fees for this year.

 

Western Province Governor, Ati Wobiro, yesterday presented a cheque covering the full amount of tuition fees, boarding and lodging, for the 145 students from the Province.

The presentation of K843, 024 was witnessed by the students from the Western Province, Deputy Burser, Norah Lasalo, the Governer of Western Province and Dr. Modowa Gumoi, Fly River Administrator.

 

Upon presenting the cheque, Governor Wobiro said that his office was committed to supporting the young people of the province, and says he will continue to support the students as education will bring development to the Province.

 

Deputy Bursar of the University Lasalo was there to receive the cheque on behalf of the Registrar of the University, Jennifer Popat.

 

Medna Bakuz, a student representative thanked the Governor on behalf of the students, saying that parents were having a hard time paying for their school fees and with the help from the Governor, a burden had been lifted.

 

Governor Wobiro is also looking at partnering with the University to establish an open campus in Daru to increase the number of students attending university.
