Violence Not Allowed, says Volleyball Federation President

Following the recent dilemma during the preliminary finals of the Digicel Cup Semi Finals, PNG Volleyball Federation’s newly elected President, Kila Dick, said that in the code of volleyball, such behaviour will not be tolerated.

He said, volleyball is a friendly sport which encourages respect, and good sportsmanship should be maintained.

President Dick urged all volleyball players in the country to uphold the meaning of sportsmanship, and not succumb to emotions and exert violence in any match arena, or attack another player, verbally or physically.

He said, PNG Volleyball has strict regulations in this regard, and under his leadership, those regulations will be applied when and where necessary.

He added, respecting one’s opponent is important and, verbal insults thrown at each other by certain players during matches at the National Championship last week, is unacceptable.

Kila Dick started a ministry to tackle such issues and, hopes more can approach the sport with respect.
