An advance team from Vanuatu arrived in the country today, Thursday June 25, 2015, to observe this year’s Pacific Games that Papua New Guinea is hosting.
The six member team were onboard the first commercial flight, upon its return from Port Vila today.
Yesterday, Air Niugini commenced its commercial flight.
In an exclusive interview with Chef de Mission and Consul of Vanuatu, Eileen Nganga, the advance team will be in the country to observe, in preparation for the 2017 Mini Games.
Chef de Mission, Eileen Nganga, says their observations will help Vanuatu improve ways of organising such large sporting events.
Former PNG Gold Medalist, Mary Estelle Mahuk, was also part of the advance team
Mahuk now works as the National Coordinator with Vanuatu’s Youth and Sports Department.
Mary Estelle started her carrier as an athlete, in 1981 Mini Pacific Games in Solomon Islands and ended her career in 2001 Melanesian Games in Fiji.
Katherine Simon one of the member’s said that it’s a privilege and honour to learn from Papua New Guinea’s experience.
