Minister for Sport, Justin Tkatchenko, has reconfirmed the government’s commitment towards the successful hosting of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup this November.

Tkatchenko recently visited FIFA Headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland to sign on behalf of the government, their commitment towards the World Cup.

Tkatachenko stressed that it’s not easy hosting a global sporting event. The government has committed K20 million towards the hosting and upgrading of venues to FIFA standards.

The minister says with school fields and sporting venues being upgraded for the World Cup, this will leave a lasting legacy which will allow PNG to host other international events.

Tkatchenko encouraged people to come out and support the PNG U20 team during the World Cup this November.
