After much anticipation and delay, Telikom launched the 2015 National Soccer League season in Port Moresby last night.
This season is expected to be tougher with the debut of Madang Fox FC and FC Port Moresby making their comeback.
Leading telecommunications company, Telikom, have jumped on the bandwagon of sports development to support an undeniable code that continues to generate mass participation throughout the country.
In its’ 50 years of being one of the leading telecommunications service providers in the country, Telikom continues to fulfill its community service obligations through supporting soccer’s semi-professional code for the past 10 years.
Despite the delay of securing venues this season, Minister for Sports and National Events, Justin Tkatchenko reaffirmed at the launching that during the recent visit by the OFC, once complete, the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium has been approved to FIFA standards and will be the home of soccer in the country.
The competition will span over 14 weeks.
The competition kicks off this weekend. Reigning champions Hekari United will take on Oro FC, while Admiralty will face Besta FC.
FC Port Moresby will face Lae City Dwellers in Lae.
