Telefomin Students to access Internet for the FIRST TIME

Schools inthe District of Telefomin will for the first time have access tothe internet.

This follows a funding of K150, 000 by Member Solan Mirisim to Telikom Foundation’s “Clean ITrdquo; Project.

The “Clean ITrdquo; Project aims to computerize all schools nationwide.  

Telefomin Member Solan Mirisim met with Telikom CEO Charles Litau, and Telikom Foundation CEO Brian Sam and senior managers.

He presentedthe money tothe foundation to establish internet services for both Telefomin High School and Telefomin Primary School.

The money will be used to purchase twenty five computers and setting up of internet connections.

The latest in internet technology such as VSAT and broadband and will only be used for education purposes.

MP Mirisim has allocated K2.1 million of DSIP funds towards education for Telefomin this year. So far over K300, 000 has been spent on school fees and infrastructure. Mr Mirisim said human resource development was a key priority.
