Team Schedule Announced

The The Games Organising Committee (GOC) is pleased to release the team sport competition schedule for Team Papua New Guinea (PNG) for the XV Pacific Games in July.

This draw schedule for the team sports reflects the final entries now received by all competing teams.

Team PNG will be competing in eleven team sports with both men and women’s teams in Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Lawn Bowls, Rugby 7’s, Soccer, Touch Football and Volleyball.

Rugby 9’s will have a men’s team only, while netball and softball will see a women’s team only compete.

The PNG Pepe’s will face stiff competition from the Solomon Islands, Tonga and Samoa.  

In softball, PNG will take on American Samoa in a ‘best of three’ rounds at the Bisini Sports Grounds from July 15-17 for a gold medal playoff only.

The Individual sports will feature PNG Athletes competing every day of the Games.

Team PNG chef de mission, remains adamant that the home support will boost the morale of all PNG athletes competing in these arena’s. With the majority of tickets selling at K10 per person, the public is urged to buy tickets to support team PNG who will be competing in all 28 sports.

All tickets for all events are day passes, so spectators are able to watch all the games of the respective sports each day.

The schedule for all matches and all competitions will be released by the GOC via their website next week.

While the opening ceremony is on the fourth, competition begins the day before, on Friday the 3rd.

The first sports that will kick off the pacific games will be touch rugby with PNG taking on Kiribati and Tonga in the men’s and women’s respectively. While in soccer, it will be new Caledonia at 3pm. Both sports held at the Bisini fields, while PNG meet New Caledonia in the Taurama Aquatic center for basketball.
