Tangit Refuted Claims of 40 percent Pay Increase for PPL Executives

There is no 40 per cent pay hike for PNG Power executives.

Chief Executive Officer of PNG Power John Tangit clarified this in a news conference this afternoon.

Chief Executive Officer of PNG Power John Tangit has refuted claims of an alleged 40 percent pay increase for PNG Power executives.

“What the Unions misunderstood is that we are preparing for a performance management system within the company there is nothing like a pay hike for PNG power chiefs, I should be the first one getting the pay increase” said Mr. Tangit.

He says, PNG Power Executives are some of the lowest paid executives in a statutory organisation.

PNG Powers is a capital intensive business that requires funding, and the executives over the years, have sacrificed to drive the business.

The executive salary will be streamlined so that other general managers can be on par with the others.

This has seen all the other workers asking for an increase as well, but Mr. Tangit stopped short of stating the management’s position saying consultation needs to be carried out first.

Tangit also said that this was another case of Union propaganda, and stands ready to defend against it.
