The inception of the Talent Identification program last year, has a main goal to identify talents to go through the High Performance program set up for elite athletes in the country.
Today saw, 32 young men from Don Bosco technical college go through strength and conditioning tests to check their fitness levels.
The program was set up in two parts, one in class theory activities and the other being the practical, which was held indoor.
Program development Officer, Connie Papau, said the students were interested to know what high performance was all about and what possibilities there are for athletes training at an elite level.
Papau said, PNG High Performance aims to reach as many young people as they can reach, with plans to spread to outside centres in the future.
Students selected from today’s identification program, will go through the next step of program before joining the elite level.
The program will continue tomorrow with Gerehu, and Jubilee Secondary Schools.
