More than a thousand students participated in the Global Hand Washing Day at the St Michael’s Primary School in Hanuabada Village.
The event is to promote hand washing and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to schools within the village.
World Vision PNG is leading this global campaign.
The event saw 1,255 students from Badihagwa Secondary, Hagara Primary and St. Michaels Primary School in commemorating Global Handing Day.
This year’s theme “Make Hand Washing a Habit” was celebrated with proper hand washing techniques.
The message is to raise awareness of communicable diseases that can be prevented with basic hand washing.
This is part of World Vision PNG’s WASH Project that is being carried out in Hanuabada.
World Vision PNG’s Hanuabada Wash project began in May this year and is funded by the New Zealand Government at K3million.
The project focuses on solid waste management, water sanitation and Hygiene.
Global Hand Washing Day is commemorated annually on October 15th, by the Global Public-Private Partnership for Handwashing.
