A volunteer says street children are onthe rise inthe city astheir parents neglectedthem.
Mina Karo a resident of North Waigani has been running her Street Children Ministry for seven years believesthe only way to save this increasing group of children is to givethem a decent education.
A young boy named Elias Peter is from Marewaka inthe Eastern Highlands Province. He is eleven years old. He leaves with his family in a little makeshift shelter with his six siblings and parents at North Waigani, right next tothe drainage system.
He has not enrolled into a school yet this year. So he spendsthe day with ther children doing mischiefs onthe streets.
And this is where Mina Karo comes tothe rescue. She is determined to get children like Elias into schools.
Mina under her volunteer ministry is enrolling seven children into school this year. Mary Joe (young girl) from Goilala is one ofthem. Last year Mary did so well in her grade, she came second.
Mina believes that children’should not bethe victim oftheir parents’ wrong decisions. They deserve better in life.
