Minister for Sport and 2015 Pacific Games, Justin Tkatchenko, has dispelled claims and concerns raised by the Opposition, in regards to the completion of venues, and in particular, the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium.
Tkatchenko said all venues will be games ready, and available for trialling and testing by June.
Curtain Brothers Project Manager on site at the Stadium, Tony King, confirmed that stage one will be completed a week away from the games in July.
“The eastern and northern stand is complete. The southern stand to be completed by the end of May, while the first half of the pitch will be seeded tomorrow (today), and the second half in April.”
The fencing around the complex will also be tidied up, as well as other minor ground works which may continue throughout the duration of the Games.
King said, “The tidy up work will take until the last week of June, but the organisers (Games Organising Committee) will be setting up as of the 13th of June.”
The Sir Hubert Murray stadium will host triathlons, the Trukai Fun Run, soccer and the closing ceremony.
