Somare against O’Neill Namah regime

Sir Michael Somare warned the voters and advised that they vote wisely to safeguard democracy now or never again at his first and public 2012 election campaign at the Sepik Timbers settlement in Wewak.

Hundreds of people from the Sepik Timbers settlement started to converge in to hear the Grand Chief speak.

Sir Michael announced publicly saying, “I am not going to lose but I am going to win and form the next Government.”

He urged voters to vote for only National Alliance party, Pangu Pati, Melanesian Alliance party and People’s United Assembly party candidates in this election as these were the parties that respects the rule of law and the constitution and want to restore confidence in the country after the general elections.

Candidates for the seven East Sepik seats include himself for the East Sepik regional seat, Jim Simitab for Wewak, Arthur Somare for Angoram, Peter Wararu Waranaka for Yangoru Saussia, John Simon for Maprik, Anthony Aimo for Ambuniti Drekikir and Paul Malken for Wosera Gawi.

In his speech he said “I am the author of the constitution assisted by late Bernard Narakobi and I have watched it grow through the years; however today the young leaders were reckless and can destroy this constitution,”.

He said, (quoting his statement) “It’s not over, O’Neill, Namah, Nape, Marat, Polye and all their “rogue” Government Ministers will go to jail for contempt of court charges that are pending and awaiting them.” He said “these young leaders have breached many provisions of the constitution yet they just cannot admit their wrong so do not vote them back because you will only waste your time.”
