The Summit will begin with the Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) to be followed by the MSG Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) on 22 June, and the Leaders’ Summit on 24 June.

The Government’s National Planning Taskforce, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade (MFAET), is currently finalising arrangements for the meeting.

Solomon Islands will receive the MSG Chairmanship from the Socialist National Liberation Front (FLNKS) of New Caledonia which is the current Chair of the Organisation.

Chair of Taskforce, William Soaki, said his team is moving closer towards finalising major areas including accommodation, meeting venues, transportation, and security and catering services for the Summit.

Solomon Islands were given the opportunity to host the 20th MSG Summit at the latest meeting in June 2013 in Noumea, New Caledonia.

The MSG, headquartered in Port Vila, Vanuatu, is an intergovernmental organisation made up of the four Melanesian states of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Vanuatu, and the Kanak Socialist National Liberation Front of New Caledonia.
