By Merilyn Diau-Katam – EM TV, Port Moresby

It’s that time of the year again, when schools wind down the academic year and farewell their senior students at Graduation Ceremonies.

The Sogeri National High School outside Port Moresby was no exception, marking its 46th graduation with the theme, “Explore Beyond the Horizon”.

Parents and friends were also part of the ceremony which not only marked the personal achievement of the students, but also an accomplishment for parents.

Special guest at the ceremony was His Excellency Kim Seong Choon, the Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea. Other guests included Gogobe Mairi, Chairman of the Governing Council, his deputy Parulu Kwarara, Mr Axie from ITI, and Philip Samar, Managing Director of the Mineral Resources Authority.

His Excellency, Kim Seong Choon, said “Persistence, positive thinking and obedience are the foundations of success.”

He encouraged the students to resist temptations and not to take short cuts in life.

With the government’s Tuition Fee Free Policy and the increase in enrolment figures, the School Principal, Kive Kerembo, said the school’s new infrastructure put up in the beginning of the school year, proved to be an accomplishment for the school.
