Australian singer and songwriter, Sia Kate Isobelle Furler, better known simply as Sia, has responded to critics over the controversial Elastic Heart video that features 12-years-old Dance Moms star Maddie Ziegler and Transformers actor Shia Labeouf, 28.
In the video, the two, Zieglar and Labeouf, wrestle and fight in a cage, wearing “dirt-covered nude material”.
Concerns have been raised globally that the video could cause upset, for victims of child abuse; with cries of ‘paedophilia’ widespread over the video’s content.
Sia has said that she anticipated the response the video has received, however, she claims that both actors were the only two she felt were suitable for the video.
“I apologise to those who feel triggered by Elastic Heart, my intention was to create some emotional content, not to upset anybody,” she twitted.
Maddie Ziegler, in an interview with ET Online, says that Sia had wanted her to imagine she was a wolf, living in a cage. She explained that the character she was expected to perform called for the hissing, crawling and chasing.
Madison Nicole “Maddie” Ziegler originally born Taylor Nicole Ziegler, but changed to Madison two days after her birth, is an American child dancer, actress, and model.
