Deputy Police Commissioner and chief of Administration, Awan Sete, is happy with the progress of the Police Modernization Program.
Commander Sete said RPNG is facing a huge challenge in delivering proper housing for its policemen and women living in run-down houses or settleMen’s and villages.
He stated that work has already begun in Lae, Madang, Mt Hagen, Jiwaka and Kokopo, with other centres to be followed soon.
“More changes will happen in other provinces”, he added.
However, Mr Sete said land acquisition, surveying and tender procurement have been difficult, but police management is determined to ensure the program is fully implemented.
Sete is confident the modernization program will bring much relief for all police officers.
Commander Sete was in Madang last week to inspect the sites of the new police housing project for Madang Policemen.
He said the force will ensure consultants, surveyors, and contractors are on alert once everything is cleared for work to commence.
