James Segeyaro arrived today with the remainder of Australia’s Prime Minister’s XIII side, and was welcomes warmly at Jacksons International Airport, despite recent criticism in the media about him playing for the Kangaroos and not the Kumuls.
A small but enthusiastic crowd gathered outside with the Eastern Highlands and East new Britain provincial flags and banners which read “James Segeyaro, our hero, Welcome Home.”
Most of these in attendance were close family and friends.
Amongst the crowd was James’ uncle, Mathias Segeyaro, who said the family is happy with James playing for the Kangaroos and that he has created a pathway for other Papua New Guineans to play in the NRL.
The public has expressed varied opinions on Segeyaro playing for the Kangaroos.
