It was a double celebration for Rigo Women in Agriculture who were proud recipient of a market truck and a learning centre.
Yesterday, Central Governor, Kila Hoada, Provincial Administrator, Gei Raga, and representatives of partner organisations visited Kokebagu farm in Rigo district to officially present the gifts.
The truck will help to transport fresh vegetables to sell in Port Moresby and the Training centre will help women in learning new skills.
The vehicle was jointly donated by Central Governor, Kila Hoada, and Rigo MP, Ano Pala, using their DSIP funds.
The Learning Centre was funded by AusAID’s Strongim Pipol Strongim Nation program at a cost of K79, 484.79
Governor Kila Hoada was taken on a tour to visit some of the rundown facilities at the farm including a generator that was used to irrigate the farm.
Mr Hoada, praise the local farmers saying it’s good that he visited the farm to see things himself.
He urged more people in his province to participate in agriculture.
Chairlady of Rigo Women in Agriculture, Nellie Diro Bola, said their focus in on encouraging women in farming to improve their living standards.
She said they planted a wide variety of local and introduced fruits and vegetables for sale in Town.
