At the 2018 Investment Conference in Brisbane, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill gave a significantly positive economic update. He stated that despite recent pressures, the country’s debt to GDP is much lower in comparison to other countries; including Australia and that the country is seeing a turn-around.
According to O’Neill, though naturally, the country went through a period of setbacks after the droughts and the recent earthquakes but according to Mr. O’Neill, the country has weathered the storm and now he and his government are positive that the economy is getting back on track after seeing steady improvements.
ADB Country Economist, Edward Faber, equally provided a positive outlook, giving some insight on the state of the country’s economy and what will drive further growth in the future.
