Prime Minister oPNG LNG Project

Prime Minister Peter O’Neill today promised that his government will honor all commitments made by past and current government concerningthPNG LNG project.

Responding tothe 30 ultimatum set bythe Hela Provincial Administration;thPM’saidthe interest ofthe country will be put first.

He said so far 780 million kina has been made to affected provincial governments, umbrella companies and landowners.

The prime minister in a conference this afternoon announced that an audit committee will be established to look intothe funds that have already been issued.

Mr. O’Neill said so far 780 million kina has been dished out to affected provincial governments, umbrella companies and landowner groups.

So far, government has paid 460 million kina in high impact infrastructure, 1.2 billion kina in infrastructure development grants and 120 million kina.

The Prime Minister confirmed that all business development grants for respective provincial governments and landowner groups have been made, except for the Angore people inthe Hela Province.

He reiterated that despitethe fact that no LNG has been exportedthe government has been keen on delivering promised funding commitments.

Mr. O’Neill saidthe LNG project is an important and historical project for the country and government will takethe approach that will benefit everyone.
