Preparations are now underway to host the country’s biggest amateur football tournament, the Besta FA Cup Regional Championship.
The tournament will see the different football associations throughout the country taking part across four different locations.
Lae City will host the Momase leg from 11-15 August, in what is expected to have fierce rivals LFA, Lahi and the Kaiapit District Associations field strong teams; and the Manus Soccer Association will host the NGI leg from 25-28 August.
The Nawone Soccer Association in Kiunga, Western Province has been given the chance to host the Southern leg of the Besta FA Cup from 20-24 August. This opportunity comes after almost 50 of non-participation.
The strongest contenders will still be the capital based sides, although there has been almost no Port Moresby competition since mid-2014 because of the Pacific Games.
The Highlands Region is yet to confirm a venue. Dates will be announced after the inspection of venue by the Mendi Football Association.
