Port Moresby Netball Association opens Season with 14 teams in Round 1

After the colourful launch last weekend, it was crunch time yesterday for teams in the Port Moresby Netball Association.

EMTV Sports caught up with the U21 ladies in Round 1 action at the Rita Flynn Courts.

EMTV Sports was present when 14 teams took the courts, all geared up and ready for the season opener.

The long rest since last season obviously did not affect the women’s abilities to play good netball.

Showing dominance early were the Esco Telstars who beat Veupunama 25 – 6.

Followed by the PCP lightning who struck too hard and left the Snax Mermaids on 8 points and took out the match with 21.

The Bura Reds also show why they are a threat in this competition with a 26 – 6 win over Hood Point.

A tough encounter sparked between POMIS and Mona. Unfortunately POMIS succumbed to the Mona’s 12 points to 22.

And in the other matches, CP Rebels for the CC Sparrows, losing by a 9 points margin to sparrow’s 18.

The Bura Reds team 1 ousted Raukele with only a two point’s margin with their 20 points victory.

Additionally, the Salvos beat Paramanas 19 – 12, while AC Plus forfeited Esco Telstars team 2.
