The Port Moresby Nature Park has introduced an outdoor education program. They are conducting interactive programs for elementary to grade 12.
Yesterday schools kids from KoroboseaInternational School took an excursion tothe park. They got to experience close contact with some ofthe animals that are kept here. They were taken around by specially trained staff.
Observingthe outdoor education program was NCD Education Schools co-ordinator Maino Koloa. Impressed by what he saw, he said all schools in NCD should make ittheir business to take students’tothe park.
Nature Park is located withinthe University of Papua New Guineacampus; formerly it wasthe botanical gardens.
The Park isthe country’s’ first combined botanical and zoological gardens, dedicated tothe promotion oPNG’s unique natural environment.
Opened in June last year under a new management it’s successfully carrying out breeding programs for native animals.
The Nature Park’s uttermost plan is to provide a natural habitat that is conducive to breeding especially for native animals. It’s a tropical rainforest right inthe middle ofthe city.
Ideally located withinthe UPNG campus,the Nature Park is also an avenue for scientific research.
The Port Moresby Nature Park is opened 8 to 4 pm seven days a week.
