Eleven Police Officers were arrested, charged and locked up yesterday at the Boroko Police Station for being in possession of items stolen from the National Parliament Haus.
This was after the Policing the Police Task Force, received critical information and acted upon it.
They secured a search warrant and searched a number of houses at Kila Barracks and recovered the items. Other items were also recovered at homes of Policemen based in Balili Police Station.
Ten of the Policemen that were arrested were members of the RPNGC Police Band based at Kila Barracks, whilst the eleventh was a policeman based at Badili Police Station.
NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’dronou says whatever information and suspects arrested will be handed over to the investigation team set by the Police Commissioner, so that appropriate charges will be laid on those responsible.
The police Commissioner commended the Metropolitan Superintendent saying the investigation is ongoing and more policemen will be arrested for their involvement in the rampage, destruction, and looting of the National Parliament Haus.
