In support of health and fitness, the PNG Netball Federation President, Julienne Leka-Maliaki has called on women and girls to participate in netball.
This remark was made when she attended the Visigo Netball Grand final yesterday, at Galomarubu village, in Rigo, Central Province,
Leka-Maliaki was impressed with the talent displayed on court on Sunday at the Visigo Netball Grand Final.
Given that, this was the first of its kind for the village to have a netball competition, there is definitely talent that needs nurturing.
The competition started in June this year, after President and Founder, Tracy Kila, organized a total of 16 teams of women and girls.
With her passion for sports, Kila and her family along with friends assisted, and ran the competition.
Meanwhile, Leka-Maliaki recognized that this competition has started from scratch, and she is already considering helping from her end.
She also commended the community of Galomarubu, especially the menfolk who supported their women.
Visigo Netball Founder and President, Tracy Kila is now appealing to business houses for assistance so they can set up a physical foundation, the first one being a proper netball court.
