PNG Health Support Workers Association (PNGHSWA) members have voiced their concerns regarding the delay in approval of the election of their new executives.
They said the industrial registrar has failed to consider their request for an election of their new executives ever since the establishment of the PNGHSWA in August 2014.
Interim General Secretary of PNGHSWA, Jack Suao, told EMTV in a media conference today in Port Moresby that the election of the interim executives has been affected by the continuous delay of approval by the office of the industrial registrar.
“It has been nine months now that the office of the industrial registrar has not come clear on this,” he said.
They have also submitted a negotiation of their claims to the Department of Personnel Management, which is awaiting response.
This delay is affecting the operations of the association, as all activities are hampered while they await the registrar’s approval.
As a result all their interim executives and the 13 branch executives throughout the country will have to wait until the new executives are elected.
The PNGHSWA have a membership of over 1,800 non-clinical staff throughout the country. These staff play an important role in the operation of the National Department of Health.
