PNG eyes India for trade ties

PNG is looking at establishing formal trade ties with India.

Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry, Richard Maru said PNG will hold negotiations towards finalizing a Bilateral Investment Promotion and Protection agreement with India.

He said there are numerous interests shown by Indian Investors to come into the country.

“I’ve sat down and had a look at which country we should now target in terms of business and trade and commerce, and we’ve decided to look to India. We are looking to have a double tax treaty with India, the same with Australia and New Zealand. We are looking at technique cooperate agreement with India,” said Minister Maru.
