West New Britain students at the Pacific Adventist University, today received financial assistance from their Provincial Government.
West New Britain Governor, Sasindran Muthuvel, made the presentation to Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ben Thomas, and student representatives at the University.
The Governor made a presentation of K52, 500, to the Pacific Adventist University Vice Chancellor today to pay for tuition fees for the West New Britain students studying at the University.
Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Ben Thomas, who was there to receive the cheque on behalf of the students, said he was very happy with the provincial government, for assisting students, as it shows the commitment of the province to the students.
He also said the University did not receive any funds from the government like the state owned Universities, and even though the cost of school fees is high, it reflects the cost of education provided by the school.
Governor for West New Britain, Sasindran Muthuvel said he will continue to assist students, and stressed on education as being an important tool for development.
He also said he will appeal to the Government, to look more into education and especially, to assist privately owned or church runned institutions in the country.
President of the West New Britain Students Association at the University, Casper Joshua, expressed his gratitude to the Governor for helping the students at the University, saying the assistance from the provincial government was a blessing for the students.
Twenty one students at the University will be benefiting from this assistance from the provincial government.
