With the conclusion of the national examinations today, parents have been urged to provide proper guidance to their children.
Teachers in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville have reiterated this following recent student deaths in the country.
The call was made following recent appeals by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands for proper parenting.
After national examinations, it is alleged students go on drinking sprees and get involved in many nasty incidents. Some even end up being killed.
General Secretary of the Catholic Bishops Conference, Father Victor Roche, made an appeal last week urging parents to be responsible.
In the meantime, Bougainvillean Teacher, Mrs Burats, has called on school administrators to ensure there is more emphasis on education.
However, the onus is on parents and guardians to provide the guidance their children need.
