Police in Port Moresby’s Hohola Station have arrested a woman allegedly involved in selling hire cars.
Hohola Police Station Commander Senior Inspector Ben Kua said the arrest is a breakthrough after years of following tip offs. The elderly woman was caught at Vision City on Tuesday when she was about to receive a payment from a unknown car buyer.
Since Tuesday night police were able to recoup three hire cars about to be sold by the woman.
Police are yet to release the real name of the female suspect who has been going around hiring cars under false identities. Two other men were also arrested by police and are in custody. According to police, the woman hires cars then the men find buyers.
Hohola Police impounded three cars from different hire car dealers which the woman was about to sell.
CID officers will begin questioning the suspect today. Police believe the group has been doing this for the past 5 to 10 years.
