While much of the emphasis is on the Games being seven months away, the Games Organising Committee (COG) continues their work behind the scenes ensuring all contracted operations are finalised, before the commencement of the Games.
In a plea to interested and competent suppliers, GOC chief executive officer, Peter Stewart, said as the host country, he would like to ensure athletes receive the best medical assistance.
“In the event that the athletes injure themselves, we as the host country, would like to ensure that they receive the best medical assistance so that they can get back on the field to perform,” says Stewart.
However, among other operational issues yet to be sorted, the process of ticketing sales is another that is yet to be confirmed.
In a report on insidethegames.biz, Port Moresby ticketing manager, William Senior, said Port Moresby 2015 and its sales partners have an enormous challenge ahead, but gave assurance that they would rise to the challenge.
Ticket sales are usually planned and processed 500 days prior to any given sporting event.
Much like the Olympics and World Cups, people are given options suited for both national citizens, and international visitors.
With the delay in ticket processing, currently there are no packages available, with a good chance that revenue and international attraction may drop, as international visitors are without the option of purchasing and planning well in advance.
