The housing project for staff of the Ombudsman Commission at Gerehu Stage Three B is nearing completion.
The housing project is the first one to be undertaken by National Housing Corporation’s subsidiary, National Housing Estate Limited (NHEL).
This comes at a time when NHEL is currently in talks with a Korean and Japanese consortium to build a 15-storey apartment at Gabutu in Port Moresby.
Although the project has been delayed by six weeks, the executive management team from National Housing Estate Limited were impressed with the phase of construction.
There has been progress on the houses as workmen and contractors from CPL’s Hardware Haus are working hard to complete the houses before mid-March.
At the cost of K3 million, the housing project of eight houses will be fully furnished and, upon completion, will be handed over to the Ombudsman Commission. This is the first project undertaken by the government’s real estate agency.
The Gerehu Stage 3B Housing Project is expected to be completed in March. NHEL Executive Chairman, Kevin Ahipum says more houses and apartments will be constructed in the coming months.
Such projects will be developed in NCD and other parts of the country. National Housing Estate has engaged certain contractors to build more houses and projects said to change the face of Port Moresby.
Madlene Paulisbo, General Manager for Special Projects with National Housing Estate, said they will also refurbish existing properties in the city for commercial purposes.
