The program started with a procession in town, then moved on to Goroka’s St Mary’s Cathedral Catholic Church for the funeral service.
O’Neill described the late Nilkare as a man with integrity and vision for reforms in the public service mechanism.
“His struggle to drive and reform the public workforce has fruitfully proven workable and we are now benefiting in some of his ideas,” O’Neill said.
The Prime Minister acknowledged the late Nilkare’s involvement in contributing to the welfare of the country.
The delegation included Western Highlands Governor, Pais Wingti, Simbu Governor, Noah Kool, State Investment Minister, Ben Micah, Education Minister, Nick Kuman, Eastern Highlands Governor, Julie Soso, and Jiwaka Governor, Dr. William Tongamp.
