Calledthe “South-South Labour Migration Needs in Papua New Guineardquo;the study examinesthe pros and cons of labour migration within and intothe country.
Members ofthe working group on migration and development met yesterday to discuss how labour migration could affectthe country.
Director ofthe ICSA’s Legal and Policy Beanch, Mthew N’Drawei, says this is part of a bigger goal of developing a migration policy.
Discussions ranged fromthe influx of foreign workers intothe country, skills development of locals, and improving data base collection of skilled workers inthe country.
Mr N’Drawei says improverments in policies and laws will ensure that labour migration can benefitthe country.
The study presented yesterday recommended policies to consider for domestic, regional and international migration of Papua New Guineas.
