The 1991 Pacific Games hosted by Papua New Guinea in the nation’s capital, Port Moresby, was a year to remember by many Papua New Guineans, including the rest of the Pacific.
The city was full of pride and joy and a significant time for the country, as many attended the games, from athletes, to spectators and officials of each Pacific nation. Years later, Papua New Guinea will again play host to the region in 2015.
The new Games village accommodation will facilitate for 4000 athletes and officials; it will be home during the Games for them.
The village will have common rooms, bathrooms, toilets and laundry facilities and will accommodate people comfortably, with desks and wardrobes built.
The new Games village will be located at the University of Papua New Guinea and will include a mass hall which will cater for 1000 at a time for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
After the Pacific Games, the Games village will be handed over to UPNG for students to use as dormitories.
